The University of Kentucky is the flagship campus in the state, situated in greater Lexington (population 300,000), in the beautiful Bluegrass region of horse farms and rolling hills. Founded in 1865, UK is a public, research-extensive, land grant Institution, ranked among the top U.S. public universities on a number of criteria, with special strength in the health sciences. The School is part of the College of Communication and Information, and includes the Department of Communication and the School of Journalism and Telecommunications. The School’s Master’s degree in Library Science is ALA-accredited. Strong relationships with computing, telecommunications and library services provide a rich environment for teaching and research.
