The Librarian III will supervise the operation of a branch library or a section of the Central Library, including directing the work of Librarians II, Librarians I, Library Assistants, Library Circulation Attendants, Library Clerks, Library Pages, and Municipal Security Guards. Responsibilities include performing technical, administrative, and professional assignments. General supervision is received from a Regional Manager, Deputy Director or the City Librarian through a review of plans, budgets, programs, and reports and conferences concerning difficult or unusual problems.
Will perform professional library work and are responsible for providing innovative and creative approaches to goal setting, planning, customer service, age level programming, information services, readers advisory and system wide committee work. Instructs staff and general public based on programming, tools, technology, and activities in Makerspace such as 3D modeling, electronics & programming, coding, video and photo creation and editing. General trouble shooting of Makerspace equipment. Supervision is exercised over professional, paraprofessional, technical, volunteers and/or clerical level staff.
Librarians II perform professional library work and are responsible for providing innovative and creative approaches to goal setting, planning, customer service, age level programming, information services, readers advisory and system wide committee work. Librarians II are hired for system wide positions and are required to move throughout the system based upon operational needs. Supervision is exercised over professional, paraprofessional, technical, and/or clerical level staff. Branch Library positions serve as Assistant Managers and Central Library positions serve as collection or program specialists.
