The Southwest Harbor, ME, Public Library, is seeking an individual with proven leadership and vision to serve as the Library Director. The vacancy occurs because of the retirement of the incumbent. The library is located in beautiful Southwest Harbor, Maine, on Mt. Desert Island, home to Acadia National Park. This vital community library serves a year-round population of around 2,000, and a seasonal population which quadruples the population each year. The library has an operating budget of over $400,000 and a staff of 9. The position requires an ALA-accredited MLIS or current enrollment in an ALA-accredited MLIS program, at least 3 years of progressively responsible professional experience in a public library setting, with at least one year in a supervisory or administrative capacity, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. The ideal candidate will have a team approach to management, have a thorough understanding of library technology, and be a visionary regarding library services.
