The Deputy Library Director will have a successful track record as an operational manager of library services, programs and facilities. He/she will present as a professional leader capable of motivating staff and achieving results and someone that champions staff development and life-long learning. The successful candidate will have exceptional interpersonal skills and be adept at verbal and written communication. The Carlsbad City Library is fast-paced and change-oriented and the successful candidate must be comfortable working in this type of environment. The Deputy Library Director must have the ability to assess community interests and develop programs and services that respond to changing expectations. He/she must partner and make connections effectively both within the community and regionally. The new Deputy Library Director will combine essential business skills and effective use of resources to build on library services in a way that supports the city in its mission to become a “world class” city.
The position reports to the Library & Cultural Arts Director and serves as one of two Deputy Directors that form the core of the Library leadership team. While collaborating on system wide delivery of services each Deputy Library Director is responsible for operations at one or two library facilities and the mix of services delivered there.
