With over 13,400 square miles, Mohave County is the second largest county in Arizona and the fifth largest county in the United States.  Situated in northwestern Arizona, it borders Utah, Nevada and California and contains elevations from 500 to over 8,400 feet above sea level.

The Library District was formed in accordance with Arizona Revised Statutes § 48-3901 with the Board of Supervisors sitting as the Board of Directors. The district is a political taxing subdivision of the State of Arizona.

Within the department, local and community libraries include:  three major branches in the cities of Bullhead City, Kingman and Lake Havasu City; and community libraries located in Chloride, Dolan Springs, Golden Shores/Topock, Golden Valley, Meadview, South Mohave Valley and Valle Vista; and two bookmobiles.

Internal divisions within the Library include: Public Services, Youth Services, Community Libraries, Technical Services, Library Innovations and Training and Facilities.

The importance of this position requires that the Director be an experienced leader with excellent communication and administrative skills and is proficient at developing relationships and consensus.  The new Director will become an integral part of the County’s management team and will be expected to take a leadership role in managing the County’s shared vision. The ideal candidate shall have a Master’s Degree in Library Science from an ALA accredited School of Library Science and 5 to 7 years of progressively responsible professional experience in library administration and service with at least 2 years at a supervisory management level, managing 2 or more library facilities simultaneously. Serious candidates should also have the skills to provide the vision and leadership to implement cutting-edge services and technologies, a leader who excels at building partnerships, empowering staff  and collaborating with other elected officials, departments and agencies
