JOB SUMMARY
\n
The Nursing Professional Development (NPD) Practitioner is a Register Nurse with NPD practice judgement and expertise who influence professional role competence and growth of learners. The NPD practitioner&nbsp;is responsible for supporting learners within the context and framework of the Nursing Professional Development, Scope and Standards practice as approved by the American Nurses Association.&nbsp;
\n\n
This position works in collaboration with nursing leadership to foster and influence competency management, clinical nursing education, professional role development, policy standardization, collaborative partnerships, scientific inquiry, transition to practice and onboarding/orientation of new Hartford HealthCare colleagues.
\n\n
The practitioner is an essential member of the nursing leadership team who promotes the alignment of regional NPD and practice excellence with the HHC system as a whole.&nbsp;
 \nQualifications\n \n
<ul>\n
<li>BSN required; enrollment in a Master’s program with degree completion within two years of hire date preferred.</li>
\n
<li>Minimum of 3 years of active clinical nursing experience with at least 1 year of experience in an acute care environment.&nbsp;Experience as a preceptor. &nbsp;</li>
\n
<li>One year of relevant teaching experience preferred, nursing professional development and/or specialty area preferred.&nbsp; Licensure, Certification, Registration • &nbsp; &nbsp;Licensed Registered Nurse from the CT DPH obtained prior to hire date. • &nbsp; &nbsp;NPD or Clinical Specialty Certification within two years of hire hire/transfer • &nbsp; &nbsp;BLS required&nbsp; &nbsp;</li>
\n</ul>

• &nbsp; &nbsp;Demonstrates ability to develop, deliver and evaluate educational programs.

• &nbsp; &nbsp;Strong skills in the process of educational needs assessments.

Job Summary:

Conducts Interviews and assessments for potential admissions
\n
Responsibilities:
\n
<ul>\n
<li>Provides admissions and intake services to patients and potential patients.</li>
\n
<li>Responds to telephone inquiries from persons seeking mental health care or information about mental</li>
\n
<li>health-related services.</li>
\n
<li>Admits patients to the hospital and registers outpatients with appropriate physician orders.</li>
\n
<li>Documents calls and related admission information.</li>
\n
<li>Identifies insurance information and obtains precertification and authorization for care.</li>
\n
<li>Provides management and oversight to the admissions process in the absence of the Admissions Supervisor.</li>
\n
<li>Reviews all paperwork accompanying patients to ensure adherence with hospital and regulatory policies.</li>
\n
<li>Maintain record for monthly quality data submission such as referrals and discharges.</li>
\n
<li>Supports clinical team as back up for group therapy or crisis intervention.</li>
\n</ul>
 \nQualifications\n \n
<ul>\n
<li>Master Degree in a mental health related field required.</li>
\n
<li>Connecticut licensure in LCSW, LMFT, LPC, LADC, or Psychologist preferred</li>
\n
<li>Two years related experience in behavioral health, particularly inpatient, required (internship experiences applicable)</li>
\n
<li>Experience in completing assessments in an emergency department or other acute setting desirable</li>
\n</ul>
