Blenko Glass Company in Milton, WV is looking for a Furnace Operator and Batch Specialist, also known as a factory watchman, to join our team.
We are located at 9 Bill Blenko Drive in Milton, WV.
Our ideal candidate is a self-starter, honest, punctual, and reliable. This job is full time (40 hours) and may require overnight and/or weekend shifts.
Responsibilities:
Secures premises and personnel by patrolling property; inspecting buildings, equipment, furnaces, and access points; permitting entry to premises as needed.
Secures/ obtains any necessary help by immediately contacting team members or supervisor(s).
Prevents losses and damage by reporting irregularities; informing violators of policy and procedures.
Assists with placing dry chemical batches for glass into furnaces for melting as needed.
Ladles out scrap glass from glass furnaces as needed, infrequently.
Cleans and keeps the hot glass work area orderly.
Complies with all safety practices and procedures.
Assists in removing glass from cooling lehr and placing in boxes/containers, infrequently.
Completes reports by recording observations, information, and occurrences.
Maintains hourly log of furnace temperatures.
Maintains environment by monitoring and setting building and equipment controls.
Maintains organization's stability and reputation by complying with legal requirements.
Ensures operation of equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements; following manufacturer's instructions; troubleshooting malfunctions; calling for repairs; evaluating new equipment and techniques.
Work is often done solo, independent of others on the team.
Contributes to team effort by accomplishing all tasks in a timely manner and as needed.
Qualifications:
Lifting (50-100lbs), Surveillance Skills, Deals with Uncertainty, Judgment, Objectivity, Dependability, Emotional Control, Integrity, Safety Management, Professionalism, Reporting Skills
Ability to work in extreme temperatures.
High School Diploma or GED required.
College degree not required.
Experience or licensing with forklifts or other heavy machinery a plus.
Certifications such as OSHA a plus.
Military experience a plus.
