Job Description

Job Description: The Arcadia University Department of Physical Therapy is currently recruiting for 2 full time, 12-month tenure-track faculty positions. The department offers an entry level Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) degree with both residential and hybrid pathways, a dual degree with public health (DPT/MPH), and multiple post-professional DPT programs including Orthopedic and Sports Residencies, a PhD in Movement Science, and a MS in Rehabilitation Science. We are ranked among the top physical therapy programs in the country.

Location: Glenside

Responsibilities:

Physical therapists or rehabilitation scientists with academic doctorates and a well-conceived research agenda are encouraged to apply. Preference will be given to candidates with neuroscience or musculoskeletal biomechanics expertise, or with research agendas in any area judged to be synergistic with current faculty interests and potential for securing extramural funding. Capacity and interest in mentoring PhD students also preferred. Capable, effective teaching in areas of content expertise is expected and occurs within a highly integrated curriculum. The faculty is committed to working in a collegial environment that values scholarship and professional service. Physical therapist applicants must be licensed or eligible for licensure in Pennsylvania. Salary and benefits are competitive and commensurate with experience and qualifications. The positions will remain open until filled.
The entry-level curriculum is highly integrative with specific content presented in 3-week modules organized around a case example or focus area. The curriculum is designed to move from simple to complex and to allow for repetition of concepts with increasing depth of knowledge. Thus, teaching responsibilities will be tailored to the expertise of the candidate and the needs of the curriculum. The successful candidate will be expected to be involved in ongoing curriculum implementation and evaluation; serve on university-wide committees; advise students; and maintain an active research agenda.

Qualifications:

Academic doctorate (PhD or equivalent);
Content and practice expertise in defined areas of practice;
Physical therapist licensed in PA or eligible for license in PA (preferred);
If non-physical therapist, well defined content expertise in a related area of rehabilitation science (eg neuroscience, biomechanics, epidemiology);
Demonstrated record or clear potential for scholarship

Application Instructions:

  • Applications must be submitted online through Arcadia's Human Resources portal to receive full consideration. Please do not email application materials to the hiring manager. Due to the volume of applications received, communication will generally be limited to candidates selected for additional consideration.
  • Application review will begin immediately. Posting will be removed from the website once we've established a sufficient talent pool for consideration.
